AFFA APPOINTS INTERIM HEAD COACH (ans.az)

The Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) appointed Vagif Sadikhov as head coach of the National Football team of Azerbaijan. Ramiz Mirzoyev, the president of AFFA said Sadikhov who ruled the main team of Azerbaijan previously and now serving as coach of U-21 (Olympic team) was unaware of the appointment. Speaking about resignation of Carlos Alberto Torres said Brazilian didn’t take the decision under pressure of football fans. Ramiz Mirzoyev also said during the “golden match” for Championship in Ganja there was “well trained” men who called resignation. Isgander Javadov, football veteran and member of the executive committee of AFFA left the meeting unfinished after having quarreled with Ramiz Mirzoyev. As for Vaghif Sadikhov, he will lead the team for three matches as so many number games left to play for WC-2006 Qualification round.
