CL Wrap: Henry Returns In Style, Juve Defeated

Thierry Henry surpassed Ian Wright as Arsenal’s all-time record goalscorer and made his long-awaited comeback in style as he scored both goals in a 2-0 win over Sparta Prague. The Frenchman was introduced for the injured Jose Antonio Reyes in the first-half, and didn’t take long to make an impact, scoring a sensational goal with the outside of his foot on 21 minutes. He made sure of the points on 74 minutes with his 186th goal for Arsenal, one more than Wright. Ajax defeated FC Thun 2-0 in the group’s other game thanks to a double from Yannis Anastasiou. Bayern Munich handed Juventus their first defeat of the season as they beat the Italian champions 2-1 in Group A. Sebastien Deisler and Martin Demichelis did the damage, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic scoring late for Juve. Bosko Balaban scored the only goal of the game in the other match as Club Brugge won 1-0 away to Rapid Vienna. It’s as you were in Group C as Barcelona were held to a 0-0 draw at Panathinaikos, and Udinese shared the points at home to Werder Bremen. The Germans took the lead after a Dias Dalbello Felipe own-goal, but Udinese levelled four minutes from time thanks to Antonio Di Natale. In Group D, Manchester United saw Paul Scholes sent-off as they were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Lille, and Villarreal drew 1-1 with Benfica. A Juan Roman Riquelme penalty put the Spaniards ahead, but Manuel Fernandes equalised four minutes later.
