Gurban Gurbanov: “We will strive to play well"

Our head coach, Gurban Gurbanov, commented on today’s UEFA Champions League play-off draw and shared his thoughts on Newcastle United, Qarabag’s upcoming opponent:

“I wish the draw brings success and good fortune to our team and fans. After each stage, we face stronger opponents. Newcastle drew 1–1 against PSG in the final round of the league phase, so the two teams are fairly evenly matched. Playing against a Premier League club always requires extra effort. They are a very serious opponent. We will work to play well and prepare thoroughly, because the English Premier League is one of the strongest championships in the world. There isn’t much difference between the teams here — any team can beat another, and it’s possible to see 3–4 goals in every match.

Newcastle is a strong opponent. We will make sure to prepare properly and study them closely. However, they are no weaker than any other team at this stage — they have a distinctive playing style and play very fast".
