Hüseyn Seyidov: “My experience at Galatasaray was a great school for me”
“Qarabağ” assistant coach Hüseyn Seyidov has completed a training program with Turkish giants Galatasaray SK. In his statement to the club’s official website, the coach said that the trip was extremely valuable for him both professionally and personally:
“I want to express my gratitude to Mr. Emrah Çelikel and Mr. Qurban Qurbanov, as well as everyone who made this opportunity possible. It was a truly valuable experience for me. I was able to test myself, understand what I am capable of, and realize which areas I still need to improve. At Galatasaray, I was welcomed with great warmth. I spent up to ten hours a day with head coach Okan Buruk and goalkeeping coach Fadıl Koşutan. We discussed a wide range of topics — from video analyses to modern trends and individual approaches to each goalkeeper. It was a great opportunity to observe and learn from the latest developments in modern football.”
The assistant coach highlighted that working with Fadıl Koçtan was especially beneficial for him:
“Fadıl Koçtan holds a UEFA Pro License and has worked for many years with Taffarel and Muslera. We spent long hours each day discussing various aspects of training. On the final day, our conversations turned into completely open exchanges of ideas. He appreciated that I had come such a long distance solely for the purpose of learning, and he valued that highly. His attitude was a great source of motivation for me. Honestly, I returned with a strong sense of confidence.”
Seyidov also spoke about the differences he noticed between Galatasaray and Qarabağ:
“Naturally, there are some differences. Galatasaray adopts European innovations very quickly and implements them within their system. In that sense, they are a few steps ahead of us. However, we have already started to apply those same innovations at Qarabağ. In terms of general training methodology, there aren’t any major differences. The main distinction lies in the facilities — the goalkeeping coaches there have their own private rooms, dedicated equipment, and analysis spaces. This has a direct impact on the quality and efficiency of their work.”
He added that he has already shared his observations and suggestions with the club’s management:
“Our management responded very positively to these ideas and expressed full support. I believe this will significantly improve the effectiveness of our work. This trip was an important step for me in terms of both experience and motivation, and I have already begun applying what I learned here at Qarabağ.”
