“Qarabag” in the 1/4 finals of the Azerbaijan Cup

Our team started the competition in the 2024/2025 season of the Azerbaijan Cup. Gurban Gurbanov’s team was the guest of “Qabala” at the Gabala city stadium in the 1/8 finals.

Our team entered the match with the following lineup: 1. Shahrudin Mahammadaliyev, 20. Richard Almeida (k), 13. Bahlul Mustafazadeh, 44. Elvin Jafarguliyev, 29. Marko Veshovic, 10. Abdullah Zubir, 66. Patrick Andrade, 7. Yassin Benzia, 8. Marko Jankovic, 18. Olavio Juninho, 21. Alexey Kashuk.

The game started with our team in the lead. Our players managed to create dangerous situations in front of the opponent's goal from the first minutes. This resulted in an early goal. In the 7th minute, Abdullah Zubir opened the score by shaking the net in a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper. Even after the early goal, our team did not lose the initiative in the away match. Although there were several chances for the second goal, it was not possible to distinguish itself.

The second half was also under the control of our team. Our players, who controlled the ball more, played reliably in defense, while looking for goals in attack. Shahruddin Mahammadaliyev, who played his first game this season, saved our team from a goal in one episode. Our players, who increased the pressure at the end of the match, often worried the opponent's goalkeeper with consecutive goal episodes. The fruit of this came in the 90+1nd minute.

As a result, our team won 2:0 and qualified for the 1/4 finals. The opponent in this stage will be "Sabail". The games of the stage will be held in February 2025.
