Qurban Qurbanov: “It Was a Useful Match”

Following the friendly match between "Qarabağ" and "Kapaz" (5:1), the head coach of our team, Qurban Qurbanov, held a press conference. The experienced coach shared his thoughts on the game:

“We’ve only had a short time together. We aimed to make the players feel like it was an official match. Each player was given 45 minutes of playing time. We instructed them not to rush and to be cautious. The second half of the championship starts on January 17, and we have little time to prepare. At this stage, pushing the players to high-speed games would be risky. I believe it was a beneficial match. I’d like to thank the management and head coach of "Kapaz" for accepting our proposal. We’ll work on preparing the team for the upcoming official matches.”

The head coach also provided updates on injured players: “Bədavi Hüseynov has not yet started training with the team. Today, we gave Bəhlul Mustafazadə and Marko Vešović 20–25 minutes of playing time. Abdellah Zoubir had a fever, so he didn’t join the training sessions. Meanwhile, Aleksey Isaev, who underwent surgery, is with the team. Overall, we expect everything to be back to normal by the end of the month.”

Qurban Qurbanov also gave advice to the young players from the academy who have been called up to the main team: “Several players from the academy regularly participate in our training sessions. I believe they need to work harder on themselves. They are eager and hardworking but must be more attentive.”
