Qurban Qurbanov: “We are not giving up our ambitions”

A press conference featuring our team’s head coach, Qurban Qurbanov, has been held. The experienced specialist shared his thoughts on preparations for the second half of the season:

“My players did not have too little time to rest. They had a good rest and returned in good condition. They are training with great motivation. The opponents we will face are strong teams. In the first friendly match, most likely each player will play one half. However, in the second match, we plan to give players 90 minutes. We will assess the players’ readiness. We have not lost much time. There will be no problems with our preparation plan. Twenty days is not a long period to lose physical fitness.”

The head coach also confirmed that transfer negotiations are ongoing:

“We are holding talks for every position. At the moment, the area we are dedicating the most working hours to is player transfers. We are watching and negotiating with a large number of players. Recently, we have been working nonstop. Let’s see how the negotiations progress. We very much want to increase the number of players in certain positions, because we expended a lot of energy last year. If this continues throughout the season, the players’ physical strength and psychological readiness may not be sufficient.”

Qurban Qurbanov emphasized that the team will continue to fight for the Misli Premier League title:

“We are not giving up our championship ambitions in the league. If we have a chance to become champions, we will fight until the very end. No club is told that it must be champion every year — there is no such rule in football. It does not mean that if ‘Qarabağ’ or ‘Real’ do not become champions this year, they will give up their ambitions next season. We simply need to be more serious and more focused, because the championship is very intense and there are ambitious opponents. We only welcome this.”
