Qurban Qurbanov: “We earned a very important 3 points”

Following the Misli Premier League Matchday 8 encounter between Turan Tovuz and Qarabağ (1:2), our head coach Qurban Qurbanov held a post-match press conference and shared his thoughts about the game:

“I congratulate my players. It was a very important victory. The players hadn’t been together for quite some time, and we made some rotations in the lineup. In the first half, the opponent didn’t allow us to control the ball the way we wanted. There were more long passes and physical duels. However, the second half was completely different. After the break, we started to play more comfortably. We earned a very important 3 points. The players worked really hard. I also thank the fans of both teams.”

Qurban Qurbanov also spoke about the upcoming UEFA Champions League group stage Matchday 3 fixture against Spain’s Athletic Club on October 22:

“We haven’t fully analyzed Athletic yet, but I’ve already started to look into them. Starting from today, we’ll focus on every detail individually. Every team has its own strengths, and to stop them, we must stay focused on the pitch. Statistically, Athletic are among the most dynamic teams — they were even ranked first in that regard. We’ll try to improve our own game and limit their playing style.”
