Reds In Good Position - Benitez

Liverpool earned a deserved 0-0 draw at Chelsea in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final, leaving manager Rafael Benitez to reflect: "It is a good situation. We have very good supporters, they will be with us at Anfield and we need to win." Benitez added: "We always have confidence and we need to believe in ourselves. We played a good game. The team worked hard and controlled the game, they had chances but a draw is a good result." The Reds’ boss felt that his side improved in the second-half, after Chelsea had shaded the first. “We had more counter-attacks and they started playing with long balls. We knew what to do against Chelsea, we know they have a lot of good players who can create opportunities. The most important thing is we need only to win at Anfield." The Liverpool captain, Steven Gerrard, believes the tie is still nicely balanced for next week’s return on Merseyside. "We defended well. We know the tie’s not over - it’s only half-time,” he said. "Ideally we would have liked to nick a goal but hopefully our fans will lift the roof off in the second leg. "They’ve got world class players. It’s set up for a great second leg," added Gerrard.
