Tahir Gozel: “National spirit, mutual respect and unity will always remain a priority”
Qarabağ have advanced to the play-off stage of the UEFA Champions League, opening a new and historic chapter in Azerbaijani football. This achievement is not only a success for our club, but also a clear indication of the growing reputation and sustainable development of our country’s football on the international stage.
Taking into account that there is only a six-day interval between the two play-off matches against Newcastle United, as well as the fact that our team will have a long trip to England during this period, our club submitted an official request to the Misli Premier League to postpone the Round 21 match scheduled against Neftçi PFK.
In accordance with the Regulations, the Professional Football League obtained the consent of Neftçi PFK and decided to reschedule the match to a later date.
President of Qarabağ, Tahir Gozel, commented on the matter on the club’s official website, expressing his gratitude to Neftçi for their understanding and support:
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the management and Board of Directors of Neftçi PFK for their understanding and constructive approach regarding the postponement of the match. With this decision, Neftçi once again demonstrated its commitment to football traditions, integrity, and the overall interests of Azerbaijani football. This step proved that no matter how principled the rivalry may be, national spirit, mutual respect, and unity always remain a priority.
I believe that such approaches contribute to the development of domestic football and the further strengthening of healthy relations between clubs. At the same time, I would like to thank the Professional Football League for considering our request in accordance with the Regulations in a prompt and objective manner.
I wish Neftçi PFK success in their future activities.”
