"We Have the Power to Defeat This Opponent"

Ahead of the UEFA Europa League Group Stage Matchday 6 fixture between “Elfsborg” (Sweden) and “Qarabağ,” our head coach Gurban Gurbanov and defender Marko Vešović held a press conference. The experienced coach shared his thoughts on tomorrow's match:

“This is an important game for both teams. It is the final matchday of the 2024 Europa League group stage. Looking at the standings, the point difference is very small. Tomorrow, we may need to exert even more effort. Playing with discipline is crucial. We will aim to leave the field with a favorable result. Football has reached a level where any team can beat any opponent. The team we’re facing is also very disciplined. If we can fully execute our plans, we have the power to defeat this opponent. With focused and disciplined play, we can achieve this.”

The coach also commented on the injuries to defenders Behlul Mustafazade and Kevin Medina: “We have particularly significant losses in the defensive line. Behlul Mustafazade and Kevin Medina will not play. These are the visible issues. The invisible aspect is that some players also have minor injuries, which concerns us. After consulting with the medical team tomorrow, we will make our decisions. The artificial turf is another factor to consider, as it can aggravate these injuries. However, we have experienced players, and we will try to make the best decisions for those positions.”

Marko Vešović also expressed their ambition to return to Baku with a win: “A tough match against a difficult opponent awaits us. We have prepared well throughout the week. I hope we will showcase the game we aim to play. Additionally, we want to add another win to our tally. I believe we will celebrate the victory we achieve here together with our fans.”
