“We maintained the tempo until the final whistle"

Following the Misli Premier League Matchday 30 game between Sabail and Qarabağ (1–4), our head coach Gurban Gurbanov held a post-match press conference. The experienced coach shared his thoughts on the match:

“I congratulate my players. Despite being ahead on the scoreboard, they managed to maintain the tempo and dynamics of the game until the very end. I thank our fans as well — they constantly encouraged our players to fight with high intensity and stood by their side.”

The head coach also noted that despite the tight schedule, the team aims to succeed both in the league and in the national cup: “Lately, we haven’t had much time for proper training. We've been playing matches every 4–5 days and couldn’t settle into a training rhythm. In that regard, having 8 days before the upcoming league match against Neftchi will be very beneficial for us. It will give us a chance to rest and address some shortcomings. We’ll try to use that time effectively. After the league match against Neftchi, we’ll face Araz-Nakhchivan in the return leg of the Azerbaijan Cup semifinal. Usually, when the schedule is tight, we make rotations in the squad. However, this time, we don’t plan to make too many changes. We’re preparing very seriously for both competitions, because European matches await us. We must not allow the players’ fitness levels to drop ahead of those games.”
