“We want to win in front of our fans”

Before the UEFA Europa League Group Stage Matchday VII clash between Qarabağ and FCSB (Romania), a press conference was held with our team’s head coach Gurban Gurbanov and defender Elvin Cafarquliyev. The experienced coach shared his thoughts about tomorrow’s match:

“This will be our first European competition game of 2025. It’s very important for us to be well-prepared for this match. Although we have some issues, our preparation has not been bad. We know we will face a very motivated team that has performed well in the Europa League and achieved successful results. Romanian football has always been known for its seriousness and toughness. We are ready for this crucial battle. We want to play well without deviating from our style and win in front of our fans.”

The head coach expressed sorrow over the passing of Qarabağ’s honorary president Abdolbari Gozal: “It is a great loss for both our club and Azerbaijani football. Abdolbari Gozal had a significant impact on Qarabağ and on me personally. Every step he took was well-thought-out and driven by his love for the success of Qarabağ. The passing of such a person is a tremendous loss for all of us. Naturally, there is deep sadness within the club. May he rest in peace.”

Elvin Cafarquliyev also emphasized their focus on victory: “We have prepared for tomorrow’s game and studied every player on the opposing team. Our head coach has given us the necessary instructions. We will be playing in front of our home fans, and we want to make them happy. We will step onto the pitch to win.”

It should be noted that the match will take place tomorrow at 21:45 at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium.
